Wonderful folk in
America have "put the lights on" in
Shepherd's keep, after sending a donation which is paying for the
installation, and the balance will be used for a portion of the ceiling
upstairs.
Grateful thanks go to this couple!

Shepherd's
Keep place of Care has received a lovely hanging for its Chapel, which
was quilted and embroidered by PINEVILLE JUNCTION QUILTERS. It was made
by senior citizens, who also made and donated 60 duvet covers with
matching nappy hangers. Nina Brooking of Pineville Junction Quilters,
hands over the quilt to Michelle Potgieter and Cheryl Pratley of
Shepherd's Keep.

SHEPHERD'S KEEP
NEWSLETTER
Dear friends and faithful
partners
The year is nearly passed, and what an amazing year it has been to see
this great big, beautiful building emerging from the sand and stones of
the property after it was cleared of all the trees!
Of course, we are all overjoyed that the project will soon be up and
running again, and to this we owe thanks to all our most wonderful
prayer partners, sponsors and donors, who have been more than generous
in giving this year! To all of you out there, a huge big thank you from
management and staff!
We now have the last few hurdles to get over and are appealing to all
to help us get ready for the Festive season, when abandonment are
tragically increased enormously and there are people knocking on our
doors all the time with tiny scraps of humanity who need desperate
attention, be it medical or otherwise.
We, at Shepherd's Keep, will now have ALL the medical and other urgent
treatment necessary, as we sport a Hi-Care and Isolation nursery, fully
kitted out with the latest medical equipment with professional staff to
take care of these special needs.
Our home will be open around the clock as it always has been, so
admissions are always received with the love and attention these
special babies deserve.
To make this real by Christmas time, we need urgent funds and a few
items, such as sun screen for windows, aluminium window frames and
windows for the ramp side of nurseries, a few sash windows to finish
off the outside, a small quantity of retaining bricks, irrigation for
the large garden,a floor for the chapel, blinds for nursery windows,
burglar bars for windows and doors, a quantity of hard -wearing new
carpets, balustrades for ramps and play-room balcony, surrounding
cupboards for baby changing areas -- new pine cots, pabx
system, computers, etc, we are nearly there!!
If you are going to have a look at the website, you will see that we
have many sponsors who have donated building material, their time
etc—this is found on the sponsor
page
Cash donations are very welcome for running costs and can be deposited
into the account on the how
to help page.
On this note, we leave you, hoping that 60 cots will soon be fitted out
with pretty furnishings and filled with precious babies!!
Kind regards
Colin, Cheryl and Michelle

SHEPHERD'S KEEP PROPERTY
A warm and light-filled view from inside
Shepherd's Keep speaks of the care and kind of spirit that will inhabit
this building for abandoned babies.

Inside sunny
dining room
Praise God, we are
nearly there !
We now
need to raise funds for the plumbing links, electricity to be finished
and the interior fixtures and fittings, and also the exterior
landscaping—all sounds easy, but this huge project needs
much prayer and commitment—the admin. dept. is always abuzz with much
work, and Colin and Michelle have really done a sterling job in
fundraising, and we give God the glory for giving them this ability and
for their perseverance in sometimes very difficult situations.
The
chapel will be used immediately for much praise and
worship to God our King, who has made all this possible, and training
and groups will be transferred to this new building, very soon
HANDS OF MERCY
Our Hands of Mercy is going very well,
and a huge order goes out to the valleys of Kwa Zulu
Natal next week—this time we have added
some different infection control medications and really
hope to touch the very ill deep down in the valleys, where there is
very little help for anything.
We
include a beautiful booklet on "living in Hope" which has really given
many hope already. Once again, thank you for all our
friends out there, who really have made a difference, who say they are
going to do something to help, and really have!!
DONATIONS
We have had many donations
( even clothes and baby food!) all the way from America and cash
donations too!
It is these
donations that keep faith strong in us, knowing that there are those of
you out there who really care, and have compassion for the abandoned
babies of Africa—so helpless and vulnerable.
Thank you all and
God bless you—we need you all and especially your prayers!

FEBRUARY
2004
2004 is going to be
the most exciting year yet, with our new facility waiting to have the
roof put on and the plastering and all other things that have to be
done to finish the building, takes place—we still hope to
be open before May!
The new statistics
are frightening—ONE MILLION PEOPLE WILL DIE THIS YEAR IN
NATAL. MORE PEOPLE ARE DYING THAN ARE BEING BORN IN NATAL BY THE YEAR
2015, THE REGION WILL BE UNDERPOPULATED—we keep
hearing reports like this, and know that if there is not a
radical turn around, the stories are true! In all this chaos, are the
abandoned, sick, usually dying babies, so very helpless and defenseless
calling out for a chance.
WE CAN HELP—PLEASE
PRAY FOR THE BUILDING AND ALL THE FUNDS THAT ARE NEEDED—we have the
infrastructure to care and find families by the time the babies are 6
months old.
We are grateful for
any donations now, in cash or kind, and all those wonderful folk out
there who keep giving to this cause, THANKYOU!
